Hollyhocks Take Over

Writer's picture: Brenda PaulsenBrenda Paulsen

Hello friends,

I was so thrilled when Stampin' Up! offered the Hello Hollyhocks kit.

They are one of my favorite flowers and I have lots of them growing in my yard. It took me years to get them to grow here. I had tried plants and had no success at all. So, when I told my friend Gayle my dilemma she said she had a lot and she had plants and seeds she was willing to share with me.

To say I was delighted is an understatement. Off I went to gather these plants and seeds. I carefully planted the little plants in the cool of the evening. And I planted the seeds, not nearly as carefully. To be honest I just tossed them out. Not one single plant survived. Not. A. Single. One.

The seeds on the other had start to grow like crazy. And now I have hollyhocks all over my yard. Out by my shed. I did not plant them there. Out in the rock garden. I did not plant them there. By my front porch. I did not plant them there. I see them along the canal bank. I did not plant them there. I see them growing out in the field. I did not plant them there. I have a very helpful community of bird friends who have been very helpful in spreading the hollyhock love. They are hardy and there are so many lovely colors. I can never choose which is my favorite.

And now I can create simple and stunning cards featuring my beloved Hollyhocks.
